Having seen our earlier Eldridge Street roof deck, another co-op on the street engaged MESH to create a new rooftop recreational space. The top of the old tenement building was in rough shape, so masonry was refurbished and steel beams installed to support a timber structure and synthetic decking (NYC restricts combustible decking to 20% of roof area). Large steel channels double as coping cap for the new parapet and support for the perimeter railing. This simple surface provides new outdoor experiences for building residents.
