MESH Architectures principal Eric Liftin takes viewers on a tour of Timber House, a sustainable condo building making pioneering use of mass timber in New York. Return to: 670 Union Street
Introduction MESH is completing Timber House, a new, 6-story condominium building. It is the first mass timber condominium in New York. We can build structures typically built in steel and concrete with mass timber and make them more sustainable. The technology was first pioneered and proven in Europe, and it has gradually permeated the U.S.
The interconnected LifeCell Tiles from our Timber House project are now available for purchase, bringing the elegant natural geometries of their designs to any home. Each tile features one of 5-6 different nature-inspired patterns that connect to adjacent tiles, producing unique, emergent combinations. More information about the product is available on the LifeCell Tiles website.
Timber House has been featured in Metropolis Magazine. Matthew Marani describes our project as part of the broader sustainable mass timber movement. You can read the article online. Return to: 670 Union Street
